MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH:
Restoring Dignity After 20 Years: Meet Rose
After barely surviving 12 hours of childbirth, Rose Nelima was told her newborn baby had died. Sadly, worse news was yet to come. During labour Rose had developed a fistula – a devastating birth injury in which women lose control of their bladders and bowels.
For 20 years Rose lived in shame.
But last year, Rose heard about an AMREF outreach clinic helping women who suffered from the same problem she had. Find out how an AMREF’s surgical team changed Rose’s life, and how you can help.

FIELD DIARY
Emergency in Mogadishu
Jump aboard a Flying Doctor Service plane with Canadian Doctor Dan Deckelbaum as he evacuates critically injured patients in one of the most dangerous cities in the world.
Following a suicide bomb Dr. Deckelbaum and his team are dispatched to the scene and race against the clock to save lives in Mogadishu.

Read Dr. Deckelbaum’s field diary and watch a video about AMREF’s Flying Doctor Service.
