IN THE NEWS:
Maternal Mortality: Why It's a Crisis

Maternal mortality
is the worst health inequality in the world today.

A woman in Africa has a 1 in 16 chance of dying in childbirth compared to a woman in Canada whose chance is 1 in 30,000.

AMREF was pleased to see Geoffrey York’s recent article, ‘Maternal Mortality: Why it’s a Crisis' in the Globe and Mail.
Most of the 280,000 maternal deaths in Africa every year are avoidable with basic health care, but most women can’t access clinics or midwives. But AMREF is working to save lives.
