MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH:
Every Day this May is a Mother's Day!
Did you know a woman in Africa has a 1 in 16 chance of dying in pregnancy or childbirth? Compared to a woman in Europe or North America who has a 1 in 30,000 chance of dying?

This is the biggest health inequality in the world today.

That’s why AMREF is dedicating the month of May to African Mothers. Every day this May we will feature a mother that has benefitted from AMREF’s work on our new interactive Mothers' Month Calendar. Check back regularly and meet the young women, grandmothers and health care workers we support.

This month’s RESULTS Canada issue is the proposed Robin Hood tax.

Some experts say the Robin Hood tax could help earn up to $650 billion to fund some of the biggest global challenges of our time like climate change, global diseases such as AIDS, TB or Malaria, or improving maternal and child health.

Find out more about the Robin Hood Tax here and how you can have your voice heard.
