A woman in Africa has a 1 in 16 chance of dying in pregnancy or childbirth compared to a woman in North America or Europe who has a 1 n 30,000 chance of dying. This is the biggest health inequality in the world today.

AMREF - Africa’s most experienced and respected health development organization - is deeply concerned about the needless death of African mothers. That's why we are working to draw attention to the plight of mothers and raise money to train more health workers and equip more health centres.
