Prudent Mechanisms for Governance Practices and Financial Management 

AMREF Canada is a registered Canadian charity in good standing with CRA (BN/Registration Number: 11921 1282 RR 0001).  Annual audited financial statements are publicly available on the CRA website. AMREF Canada adheres to the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code [PDF] established by the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy.  We are members of  IMAGINE Canada and our practices are consistent with the Imagine Canada Ethical Code of Conduct [PDF].  Further, we belong to and support the Association of Fundraising Professionals Donor Bill of Rights [PDF].

Management is accountable to a volunteer Board of Directors who meet quarterly.  Fiscal oversight is ensured through independent auditors who report to the Audit & Finance Committee of the Board of Directors of AMREF Canada. 

The Board approved Statement of Policy & Procedures is reviewed, updated (as required) and approved annually by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the Audit and Finance Committee.  The comprehensive Policy & Procedures Manual provides standards for prudent management and oversight with respect to:

(B)  Expenditure, Procurement and Approval Policy                             

(C)  Travel                                           

(D)  Employment, payroll and human resources

E)    Conflict of Interest

F)    Privacy policy
